Card Image Gallery: Black

Welcome to the card image gallery for Planeswalking in Kanto. Below I'll be posting links to galleries organized by color in a similar fashion to what you see on the official Magic: The Gathering card image galleries. I'll be grouping multicolored, artifacts, and lands all together since there aren't too many of them in comparison to the five base colors. Let me know if you have any questions or feedback in the comments and enjoy!

  1. Cubone: This is the first vanilla creature I think I've seen. If you intend on this being draftable, you should probably add one or two more in each color.
Destiny Bond: This appears to do the opposite of what I remember the ability doing in the game. What if it were an enchantment that says "whenever a creature you control dies, enchanted creature's controller sacrifices it." Or just make something to the effect of bone splinters if it must be a sorcery.
Foul Poisoncrafter: Mana cost is pretty pushed, but not too badly.
Gastly: Too strong at common. Uncommon would be a better fit.
Gengar: This ability is fantastic, and flavorful. Every time Gengar comes back, he hurts you a bit more.
A quick aside here: I'd love to see you do something with Gengar's Curse ability. Possibly an enchantment where when it comes in you lose half your life rounded up, and at the beginning of enchanted players upkeep that player loses ~5 life.
Hypno: Crazy powerful at cost, and way above common at power. Random discard is huge.
Insomnia: What if the last line triggered on the untap instead of the upkeep and had a generic cost to prevent the counter? I feel like that would both make this card more mechanically flavorful and expand it's uses to both offense and defense.
Mewtwo: The -2 ability is really underpowered, and the -8 ability is basically Nicol Bolas. I think the solution here would be to play more into Mewtwo's psychic abilities and what they could do in black. Parasitic mind control, mill, card exile, things of that sort.
Synchronize: At that cost, and considering there aren't many cards that deal out -1/-1 counters, I feel like this should put a counter on the targeted creature first, and possibly only effect opponents' creatures.
It feels like black really wants -1/-1 counters to be relevant in this set but it's missing something. And I think what that something is, is wither. I would try out adding wither to any creatures you could justify having it, see what cost issues there might be and see if it functions well with everything else.

    1. The problem with adding wither is that it'd probably just end up being on black and green, and that doesn't feel like the best solution if I'm going to jump in and add a new mechanic. I love the idea of it, but it's just not something that can flavorfully be expanded to all the colors it wants to be on. Well, at least in this set.
